Great Planes Stinger
Great boat, but you will need to replace a few items.

First is the speed control device, good idea, but not durable enough.
The amp draw on resistance, not voltage will melt a grove right through the contact plate, I would bet the first time out with a new prop will probable do it.
The motor power is designed to for two batteries, parallel for low speed, series for high, go to the Controls & Wiring section of the web site, I have diagrams specific to the inline motor setups.
Fix: Replace with almost any ESC or Micro switch device depending on the type of running you plan to do, it controls two 22-turn motors.
I have used as low as a 75amp ESC, no problem.

Second the rudder, is too small for this boat.
Fix: Replace with a Kyosho Rudder

Third is the prop, Fischer-Price has better ones.
Fix: Replace with almost any prop that requires a drive-dog, again I use the Kyosho Propeller D38xP1.4

Do Not Replace the Motors
I have come across a few of these boats and someone had replaced the motors with a single motor, most likely to solve the speed control problem. I have purchased these motors alone for project boats and have not been disappointed yet.
Great Planes TwinLine Drive System

Kyosho Blade Runner EP
I love the look of this boat, but a nightmare to build. The radio box requires a lot of patience and nimble fingers, the large decals can be difficult to apply straight and without air bubbles.
The real problem is the drive system, the first time out it ran slow and almost sank because of the leaking around the driveshaft housing, specs instruct you to use a rubber gasket at the hull, ever try to glue rubber to plastic. Don't use the rubber gasket, just glue the housing to the hull.
The stock motor is not strong enough to power a boat of this size, the box recommends a 14-turn motor, it's first time out with the new motor was ok, but it sheared the ears off the rudder joint.

Radio Box

Fix: This boat (still) has not been fixed yet, a friend came to me right after this happened and said he would give me $120.00 for it, I handed the radio to him and walked away.
He tried a few changes, but the 14-turn had a meltdown,  I suggested the twin line motors or a Graupner 700 and a new rudder or outdrive system.

Update
I received an email from Taylor who is 13 years old and this is what he did to his Blade Runner:
He removed the complete drive system and purchased the outboard motor to the Kyosho Speed Vee 800. See Taylor's Blade
