No matter the look of the home interior or the style of the setting, a solid set of uncovered beams can and will truly elevate the atmosphere.

Now that spring is here, so many plans swirling about in my head for “garden getaways” in our yard. Too many ideas. Truly, it can be kind of overwhelming to be me somedays, haha (anyone else overwhelm themselves with all the ideas and possibilities? Yes? No?). But like all innovation and grand plans, it can take time to dream up and implement the ideas that make the most sense.

I have more than a week since I have an Iphone 3GS and I have to say that I love this phone. Now since I have bought this phone I’m more aware of all the things that are related to iphones. One of those things that got my attention is Finite Elemente’s new 1 is what you could call a sound board, and is basically a good-looking iPod and iPhone dock in the shape of a shelf. That’s not all. It comes with all of the necessary ports to connect it to your home theater system and a remote control. The load capacity of the ledge is around 55 pounds, but that actually depends on the wall that it’s fixed onto, since this is a floating shelf. The Horizontal 51 should be obtainable soon, although the $660 asking price is pretty cold.

Hanging artwork: If you have lofty ceilings, artwork placed above the line of television sight viewing is a good idea. Consider making the artwork simple, and more abstract. Artwork that has physical content will make television viewers to concentrate on the artwork. For smaller ceilings, but lengthy walls, consider putting little collections of artwork, paintings, photographs etc… to the side(s) of your television. Whichever you scheme preference, attempt to let the television compliment the area, or be left on its own. For visual interest for wall ascended televisions add wainscoting or build decorative architectural niches into the wall.

For me, the living room is more than just a comfy and relaxing space – it also needs to be a multifunctional space where a home-owner can really express their style. I think the most important detail is a comfy sofa and extra seats for guests but a large rug, accent cushions and lighting can rapidly lighten up the dullest of rooms. I love the clean white setting and mix of textures with a yellow highlight colour in this Scandinavian living room arrangement. The extra fireplace or wall art is the cherry on top!

Get creative: For some residence the reality of having standing furniture on hand for large party entertaining isn’t feasible. Whether it is because of limited space to house more furniture, or the finances to afford it. Get creative and pull chairs from desks in other rooms, and use small mobile ottomans for kids. Somedays the art of entertaining is being able to make do with what you have. After all your visitor just want a seat, it doesn’t have to always have to be a five star dinner! Make the most of what you have and enjoy having your large party of guests.
