The penthouse, based on a hill, overlooks the awesome city. You can relish wonderful moments, watching the sun at dusk or drink a cup of coffee in the morning, on the terrace.of natural and almost cottage-like inspiration. Wood floorings, chairs and different shades of brown, create an environment of natural and almost cottage-like inspiration. The paintings on the walls and the colourful rugs, though, transform it into a more interesting and contemporary home. The result: a playful, creative and bright current interior.

Don't fear red in the living room just because some designer tells you to use only neutrals in the space. If you love red, we say you give it a good go. And with holiday season precise around the corner, it even plays into the vintage red, green plus white color scheme. Top it off with a splattering of gold plus you are all place for jolly good times!

Both fireplaces plus beautiful water features have an allure that I am immediately drawn to, and that is probably one of the reasons why we have so many amazing fireplaces, dazzling pools and a combination of both on Decoist! While it is harder to bring water features into the living room, a freestanding corner fireplace is easy to install and immediately becomes the focal point of the room. Couple this with the right mantel decor in conjunction with lighting, and you have a gorgeous corner addition.

You really can't ignore ‘white’ when it comes to shabby chic model, and it plays a major role in offering it the fabled snug, dreamy aura. It isn't just the walls, as décor painted in various shades of white, flooring that also embraces the white sheen and accessories that are draped in white can help create a charming all-white living room. Features such as whitewashed brick walls, wooden timbers and metallic frames still give sufficient textural contrast, even as they stick to the monochromatic color scheme.

While the Day System is specifically designed for the living room, nothing stops you from taking these smart, individual modules into the dining room or the bedroom. In fact, they can be mixed to craft a small, exquisite workstation in pretty much any vacant corner of your home.

Rustic family rooms are an ideal perfect space to try out a warm, earthy hue palette. But it isn't just inspiration from nature that elevates the appeal of these settings. Big framed windows that escort the outdoors inside are a big part of the rustic style. If you have a living room that boasts of remarkable natural views, make them an integral part of the interior. For those who don't have a home that overlooks awesome snow-capped peaks or remarkable green prairies, a simple view of the garden outside will do as well. The inspiration is to ‘play up’ the nature-centric appeal of the rural living room.
