This living space was styled and shot by Souraya Hassan of BINTI HOME. She is a genius – just look at this color combo! A neutral palette of white and soft shades of grey is combined with turquoise and warm tones of orange to create a ideally balanced composition. The wooden ceiling beams are whitewashed, and that gives the ceiling a light and airy look. Copper and warm wood touches make the interior very inviting. I love the idea of mixing trendy and fashionable items by famous designers and some upcycled classic pieces, like the beautiful buffet painted in blue.

Painting walls with stripes is a good trick. Horizontal stripes create the room spacious, whereas upright stripes give an impression that walls are taller than they appear. Employing multi-purpose furniture wherever possible. For instance, an ottoman can serve as cushion, footrest or coffee table. Lots of area are thus saved, which would otherwise be absorbed by separate pieces of furniture.

There are so many things we could learn from this room. Probably, first of them is that you are allowed to play with color — definitely love the color combination in here. The white, black or rusty shades are amazing and a combination of them may work well on your living room, too.

This pendant lamp is bold, wild, emotional and exciting. Lampshades with a clipped, scissored feature have the advantage of filtering the light and creating a sweet shadowplay, in addition to favoring the distribution of some indirect light to the ceiling. Thus, the contrast between the lamp and the surface of the ceiling is diminished. Red and glossy, a cool pendant lamp like Devil easily discovers its spot in a modern, retro or punk living room.
