Nature and the environment have validated to be a big source of inspiration in interior design and architecture over the past few years, particularly where material choice is concerned. We have spotted a rise in popularity of natural materials such as wood, stone and slate as people are seeking to reduce their impact on the environment by choosing products that will last longer and that are readily available.

From Katrine Martensen-Larsen comes this amazing house schemed for a family of seven. We hope this post will come in handy for those of you looking for fresh ideas for the kids rooms also. The “Charming Villa” is located in Frederiksber, Denmark and was especially decorated for a family of seven. The designer conditioned that this home is “proof that many kids and a frantic lifestyle, does not mean you have to compromise on style.” The interior design features original and fresh decorating ideas. The wallpapers are particularly interesting. White is used predominately clarifying the home giving it a homey, clean and fresh feel. Bits of color are appended here and there cheering up the whole design. We actually enjoy how the earnest, more sober rooms alternate with the playful ones.-via Digs Digs

Maximize your living room with minimalist designs, clever pieces of décor that make a small space sense bigger or pieces that serve multiple purposes. When it comes to little living space plan, the common theme is that less is more, both in the colors you select for your walls and the furniture that fills the space. Oversized furniture can create an already little room feel even more cramped, and change a space with a lot of potential to a space you can’t wait to exit.

The first piece that comes to mind when furnishing a living room is generally a sofa. However without a coffee table, the room — no matter how good looking — looks incomplete. Metaphorically, think of your sofa as a great outfit and yours coffee table as the perfect pair of shoes to go with it.
